Early Life and Background
Kevin Wayne Durant was born on September 29. 1988 in Washington D.C and grew up in Prince George's County, Maryland.
He attended Montrose Christian School where he developed into one of the top high school players in the country.
There were conversations around his slim build, but it was obvious he was going to be a basketball star.
College career at Texas
Durant played just a season at the University of Texas during the 2006/2007 season where he averaged 25.8 points and 11.1 rebounds per game, and till now this is still considered as one of the best freshman seasons ever.
He won major awards including the Naismith College Player of the Year and AP Player of the Year.
After his freshman season, he declared for the NBA draft.

Kevin Durant was selected second overall pick at the 2007 NBA draft by the Seattle SuperSonics. The team relocated and became the Oklahoma City Thunder.

He led the Thunder to the 2012 NBA finals and had a lot of other memorable playoff run with the team

Golden State Warriors and Championships
In 2016, Kevin Durant joined the Golden State Warriors. A controversial move at the time, but his performance was dominant.
Durant won two NBA championships with the Warriors (2017 and 2018) and earned Finals MVP award in both occasions, being the most impactful player on the Warriors roaster.
Brooklyn Nets and Phoenix Suns
Durant suffered a torn Achilles injury in 2019 and moved to the Brooklyn Nets after his recovery. He proved to the league once again that he could still perform at an elite level.
After an unsuccessful stint with the Nets due to team performance, he asked to be traded during the 2022 offseason.
He later joined the Phoenix Suns where he continued to average high scoring numbers.
And after two full seasons with Phoenix, Durant was traded to the Houston Rockets in July 2025

Playing Style and Strength
Kevin Durant's game is largely built around his scoring versatility. He's what is known as a three level scorer; He can score at the rim, in the midrange and from beyond the arc.
His height and quick release makes his shots very difficult to block. His on ball movements generally makes him difficult to guard.
International Career
Durant has had an historic career with Team USA. He has won four Olympic gold medals (2012, 2016, 2021, 2024) and is also the all time leading scorer for Team USA in the Olympics.
He's widely regarded as the greatest Team USA Men's player of all time, just behind Kobe Bryant.
