Spurs Finally Strike Back: Wembanyama Leads San Antonio Past Knicks in Game 3

San Antonio takes Game 3 to make the series 2-1, all thanks to a stellar performance from Victor Wembanyama. Game 4 takes place at the MSG and will prove to be a real test for both sides

The Spurs went down in the first two, but knew they had no choice but to take it on the chin in Game 3 at Madison Square Garden, where they routed the New York Knicks 115-111. The win moves New York to 2-1 overall and Spurs back the mix.

Wembanyama Delivers on the Biggest Stage

The young French sensation controlled both ends of the floor, with his elite scoring and rim protection that has catapulted him to NBA superstar status.

Every time the Knicks tried to pull away, Wembanyama would come up with a game-changing play; whether it was a contested shot, a rebound in traffic or a defensive stop.

But more important, he looked comfortable when it came to carrying the weight of a franchise in the NBA Finals.

Spurs Finally Win the Battle of Execution

The first two games were close calls, with San Antonio finding it hard to close out big opportunities near the end. Game 3 was different.

They were able to keep their offense on the move in the fourth quarter and kept the Knicks on the back foot when the game got tight.

For the first time in the series, San Antonio looked like the more composed team down the stretch.

Knicks Still Lead the Way

But, there's not much reason for New York to be concerned about losing.

The Knicks are still 2-1 up in the series and have already established themselves as capable of victory in tough situations. They are just as physically strong and disciplined in defense as they've been all through the playoffs, and they are still in control of the Finals.

The concern, however, is that Game 3 may have awakened a Spurs team that was searching for confidence

Game 4 Now Becomes Massive

If they win in Game 4, it will bring back their commanding lead in the series. If Spurs win the game, the Finals would be tied at 2-2 and the momentum would shift.

The pressure isn't solely on San Antonio in this matchup for the first time ever.

The Spurs have landed their first punch. Can New York take it or is this Finals just about to become a long, dramatic battle.
