Eberechi Eze Stats and Biography: Progress or Regression?

Eberechi Oluchi ‘Ebere’ Eze is an English professional footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder for Premier League club Arsenal and the England national team.

Standing at 1.78 metres, the 28-year-old has the reputation of a top barrier carrier at south London. Arsenal paid £67.5 million for him in August 2025 and number 10.

His career path winds from cages in Greenwich, through releases at Arsenal, Fulham and Millwall, through Queens Park Rangers and Crystal Palace, and into the current structure Mikel Arteta wants at the Emirates.

Biography

Born on 29 June 1998 in Greenwich, Eze traces his family roots to Mbaise in Imo State. Both of his parents are Igbo Nigerians, and they raised him with his brothers Chimaechi and Ikechi in a part of south London he has described as not the easiest.

After school the boys went to the cage and stayed there until they were called in.

He joined the Arsenal academy at about eight and was released at 13, then Fulham, a Reading trial and Millwall all ended the same way. Speaking to the Premier League champions, Eze revealed he was close to college and a part-time job at Tesco when Queens Park Rangers took him in August 2016.

A Wycombe loan brought five goals in 20 games, and 2019-20 brought 14 goals and the club’s player of the year award.

Crystal Palace paid about £17 million in August 2020. Over five years he scored 34 goals in 147 appearances, including the only goal of the 2025 FA Cup final against Manchester City.

Arsenal came back for him on 23 August 2025. He debuted in a 1-0 defeat at Liverpool, scored his first goal at Port Vale, and hit a hat-trick against Tottenham in late November. The low point, which we covered in February, was a half at Brentford with 17 touches, no chances and a half-time hook for Martin Odegaard. He then scored twice and assisted twice in February, scored twice again in March and added another goal in April.

International career

Because both his parents are Nigerian, Eze was eligible for the Super Eagles as well as England for as long as he had not played a competitive senior game for either side. He trained with Nigeria in 2017, and NFF president Amaju Pinnick later met him to try to persuade him to switch.

England, however, got to him first. He made his senior debut on 16 June 2023 as a substitute against Malta, and from that game he could no longer represent Nigeria. He scored his first England goal against Latvia in 2025.

Crystal Palace was the peak, last season at Arsenal was a step down that still produced goals, and so far this season is the return that has brought back the flop talk.

Arsenal, 2025-26 Premier League: 7 goals and 2 assists in 32 appearances, 21 starts. He finished with 10 club goals in 52 matches in all competitions.

Salary and net worth

Reports put his Arsenal wage at about £180,000 to £190,000 a week, near £9.4 million a year, on a deal to 30 June 2029. Estimates put his net worth between £18 million and £25 million, with a Transfermarkt value of €65 million at the time of writing.

Parents and family

Eze’s parents have stayed private. After Arsenal released him, his mother, who did not like driving, took him to a Southend trial because his father was at work.

Eze’s wife is Naima Corbin. They met at John Roan School in Greenwich at 15, married in a private ceremony in 2022, and held an Igbo traditional wedding in London in 2025. The Igbo wedding in 2025 was held because it mattered to Eze’s parents.

Progress or regression

The fee says Arsenal bought the Eze we know at Crystal  Palace, the player who received on the left of Oliver Glasner’s 3-4-2-1 and ran at a defence with grass behind it. Arteta’s style does not give him that much, because the left-back, often Riccardo Calafiori, steps inside and the half-space is already taken.

The England international has been used as a right-sided eight, or left waiting when Gabriel Martinelli or Leandro Trossard was there. When he started wide last season, Matty Cash ran off him for Aston Villa’s opener.

Progress, maybe, is the title, the Champions League run, the England minutes in July and the goals that followed Brentford. Regression is the role, and the 85 league minutes this season. Until he gets the left-sided pocket he had at Selhurst Park, the goals will come in spells, and the argument will start again when those spells end.
